Prevalence of Bedbugs Infestation, Crowding and Awareness Level Among Government Boarding Secondary School Students in Moshi Urban, Tanzania

Background: Bedbug infestation is the worldwide problem according to World Health Organization, and characterized by biting reactions including systemic, cutaneous sometimes psychological disturbance. Prevalence of bedbug low (6%) in developed countries while Sierra Leone 98% Tanzania 56% which tremendously high. As among neglected conditions because high prevalence Tanzania, studies determine this burden, some risk factors (crowding) awareness specific populated communities especially schools inevitable for planning strategies eradication bedbug. Objective: To infestation, crowding level boarding government secondary school students Moshi Urban. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted from May July 2018 at Urban Kilimanjaro region. The structured standard questionnaire used obtain demographics information participants, asses awareness. Personal observation corresponding student’s dormitories. Results: 58.1% (223) 384 participants. Logistic regression analysis showed that 72.6% with were found be living overcrowded There association between overcrowd (OR=2.50, 95%CI (1.63-3.83). Only 32.7% infested involved aware bedbugs (OR=0.8795% CI (0.56-1.35) P=0.54. Conclusion: overall dormitories those who not on biology behavior, transmission, control prevention ways. Education concerning needed increase community together management number accordance available facilities resources.
